Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has come a long way since its establishment in the year 1963, when 20 regimental schools run by Ministry of Defence were brought into central school scheme, under Ministry of Education for catering mainly to the education of children of defence employees and other transferable central Govt. Employees.
